Lighting Schemes to increase efficiency and improve the customer experience
– giving your leisure centre lighting the competitive edge
In a typical leisure centre energy costs are second only to labour costs. On average 30% of a centres electricity costs come from lighting. Upgrading to LED luminaries and control technology will provide a significant energy saving and reduce running costs.
All leisure centre lighting schemes must comply with relevant BS standards, CIBSE and Sport England guidelines.
Upgrading the leisure centre's lighting scheme will add value to the centre’s operations and quality to the visitor's experience
Earlsmann lighting understands the lighting needs of successful leisure centres.

Daylight harvesting
A photosensor detects the amount of natural daylight in the room and adapts artificial levels to suit.
Scene setting to accommodate for different sports
Different sporting activities require modified levels of light, for example a sports hall accommodating a game of badminton demands a highly lit none glare environment compared to a yoga session which would require ambient lighting.
Reduce unnecessary lighting
The correct specification of auto-sensing lights in a sports hall, studios, changing facilities and storage spaces to turn off lights when unoccupied will also provide additional savings.
Future-proof provision and reduced maintenance
LED luminaires last longer and need changing less frequently, therefore reducing maintenance costs.

Indoor Swimming Pool Lighting
Adequate lighting is essential to ensure the safety of swimmers. The handling of surface reflection is important so that pool attendants and lifeguards have excellent visibility to monitor swimmers and detect difficulties that they may experience. Luminaires must resist high humidity, chlorine and high temperatures and, in some cases, must be splash resistance and water-tight with the appropriate IP rating.
Earlsmann Lighting has designed lighting schemes for various types of indoor swimming pools from Olympic sized pools to water parks. Contact us today to discuss your the lighting needs of your pool.

Multipurpose sports Halls
As indoor sports halls are used for various sports the lighting requirements will vary accordingly. Uniform illumination as well as a controlled management system that can adapt light levels to the activity being performed, is recommended for efficient use.
The BS EN 12193 standard states that most ball sports require 200 lux however, table tennis requires 300 lux and competition sports can require up to 750 lux. It is important that a lighting scheme should always be designed for the most demanding activity which can be controlled to adapt the light levels for other activities. Installed luminaires need to be impact resistant to ensure that they don’t break if a ball was to strike them.
Earlsmann Lighting has designed lighting schemes for numerous sports halls that cater for a variety of sports. Contact us today to discuss your sports hall lighting requirements.
Indoor/Outdoor Tennis Court Lighting
Good visibility is paramount so that players and spectators can visually see all aspects of the game. Illumination levels need to be evenly distributed across the whole court to create uniform lighting with no glare.
Earlsmann Lighting has designed lighting schemes for both indoor and outdoor tennis courts and real tennis (referred to as the sport of kings) courts that meets recommended Lux levels for grass, clay and hard courts. Contact us today to discuss your tennis court lighting needs.
